更好的一年，更好的大學 第二期探索者計畫啟動
東海大學接連通過教育部「素養導向高教學習創新計畫」（XPlorer探索者計畫）第二期補助，這一期計畫與十八所大學校院成為高教探索者。

這一期計畫，東海大學以「自主學習、數位素養、成長心態」為主軸。透過自主學習通識課程、專業課程舊課翻新，大一中文導入生成式AI等課程創新，以教師社群、成果交流與發表，彈性學制和學習規劃師等支持系統，希冀打造以學習者為中心的自主學習環境。

2024年4月13日於國立清華大學舉辦「更好的一年，更好的大學」啟動工作營，本校由文學院周玟慧院長、日文系張瑜珊老師、工設系李俐慧副教授、日文系王怡人助理教授代表參加。上午場次以學生（EdYouth黃莨騰組長）、媒體（親子天下陳雅慧總編輯、104人力銀行張雅惠協理）、學界（國立政治大學吳思華講座教授）三方帶來不同視野，共同討論大一年的關鍵問題。
當天下午本校文學院周玟慧院長分享本校第一期執行經驗回顧，而日文系王怡人老師分享執行「契約學習」課程經驗。同時，與張瑜珊主任一起擔任行動研究、舊課翻新、人機協作分場討論擔任桌長，以先行者提供經驗。

A Better Year, A Better University: Launch of Second Phase of XPlorer Project
Tunghai’s XPlorer Project has received approval for second phase funding from the Ministry of Education. Becoming one of the eighteen participating universities in the second phase of XPlorer Project.
The core of the second phase at Tunghai university will be “self-directed learning, Digital literacy, and growth mindset”. Tunghai university hopes to create a learner-centered self-directed learning environment through course innovation and establishing support systems. Plan for course innovation includes self-directed general education courses, innovating disciplinary curriculum, implementing generative AI in Freshmen Chinese. On the other hand, support systems include creating a community among professors to share opinions and outcomes, flexible curriculum and academic advisor.
On April 13th of 2024, “A Better Year, a Better University” launch workshop was held at National Tsing Hua University, representatives from Tunghai university includes Wen-Hui Chou, the dean of the Department of Chinese Literature, Yu-San Chang, professor from the Department of Japanese Language and Culture, Li-Hui Lee, associate professor from the Department of Industrial Design and Yi-Jen Wang, assistant professor from the Department of Japanese Language and Culture. In the morning session, student (EdYouth team leader Liang-Teng Huang), media (Ya-Hui Chen, Editor-in-Chief of CommonWealth Education Media and Publishing, and Ya-Hui Zheng, Manager of 104 corporation), and academia(Se-Hwa Wu, university chair professor at National Chengchi University) brought distinct perspective and collaboratively discuss about the crucial aspects of freshmen year.
In the afternoon session, Wen-Hui Chou, the dean of the Department of Japanese Language and Culture shared a reflection of execution experience from the first phase of XPlorer Project. Additionally, Yi-Jen Wang, professor from the Department of Japanese Language and Culture shared experiences implementing the “Learning Contract” course. Meanwhile, along with Yu-San Chang, professor from Department of Japanese and Culture, they participated as discussion leaders and shared insights as pioneers in action research, innovating courses, and human-robot collaboration.
